New innovative project in Argentina!

Buenos Aires, Sept.24, 2019 - Argentina Ministry of Agriculture Breeding and Fisheries (MAGyP) and Meteo France International (MFI) signed fresh agreement in Buenos Aires on Sept. 24th, 2019 for a 3-parties project with Argentina National Met Service (SMN) aiming at joint agro-climate monitoring over Argentina and innovative agro-climate solution for Argentinian farmers.

This comes in a context of enhanced cooperation between France and Argentina in the field of Meteorology and Climate, based on a tripartite agreement signed between SMN Argentina, MFI and Météo-France, the French National Met Service late 2016.

This agreement also brings innovative collaboration mechanism between MAGyP, SMN Argentina as institutional partners aiming at more effective agro climate monitoring over Argentina on the one hand, and MFI as integrator in charge of implementing a proven, integrated and sustainable solution for the benefit of Argentina institutions.

In less than two years, the project will bring a consolidated countrywide view of all climate monitoring systems through improved data collection, quality control and system integration across Argentinian institutions. It will also bring better knowledge of climate and climate trends in Argentina, and provide effective agro-climate information and services on the ground.

The signed agreement is part of a bigger Climate Resilience initiative of MAGyP named GIRSAR and funded by World Bank in Argentina. Within this initiative, the project will bring better climate knowledge and therefore allow setting up of suitable products for agriculture decision makers including warning and insurance.

SMN Argentina and MFI are proud to extend their cooperation through this project and at the same time bring improvement to climate data processing as well as effective access to real time and climate data for main players in Agriculture in Argentina.
