🤝 A few months ago, we were very proud to announce that MFI had signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement with 𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗠 (Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia) for the design and implementation of a joint global integrated Early Warning project in Mozambique, based on an innovative Design Build Operate (DBO) business model.

📅 Following on from this agreement, our President Patrick Bénichou had the honor to be invited to participate to Mozambique 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝗹 (𝗘𝗪𝟰𝗔𝗹𝗹) 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵, taking place in Maputo on Aug.21-22.

🎤 The event was chaired on Day 1 by the President of Mozambique 𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗲 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗡𝘆𝘂𝘀𝗶, and several ministers among which 𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘂𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗮, Minister of Transports and Communications. The workshop on Day 2 gave opportunity to give a presentation of how a "cross-pillar" DBO approach in Mozambique would match the expectations of the entities involved (INAM, INGD, INCM, CVM) and of society.

✉ Just before the event, major UN organizations like the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) had signed a strong support letter commending the Government of Mozambique "𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘞4𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘯𝘥-𝘵𝘰-𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘢𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯".
It also expressed "𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘞4𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤-𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘦-𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 (𝘗𝘗𝘗) 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵 [𝘦𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘔𝘍𝘐], 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 “𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘉𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦” 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩", and their belief "𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴-𝘱𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘗𝘗𝘗 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘺, 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦, 𝘤𝘰𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘜𝘕 𝘌𝘞4𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯 𝘔𝘰𝘻𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦".

💪 This support letter appears like a validation of the approach MFI has been promoting these past 2 years through its 𝗪𝟰𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁. We are therefore more motivated than ever to move from theory to practice and achieve the first PPP EW4All-compliant project in collaboration with Mozambican authorities. The project now deserves a DBO-compliant financing solution matching the expectations of the Government and of the society… a final but crucial step to move forward.
